Dovetailing off of last week’s class photo, here is a group of girls in some tropical location. They might be Vietnamese or Filipino, but since the photo is unidentified I can’t be certain.

I missed the last two Sepia Saturdays due to lots of stuff going on and not enough time in front of my computer for play (lots of time for work tho). I’m happy to be back! The theme photo this week is Dinah Shore and Burt Bacharach playing tennis in Florida. Well, I searched three antique shops for vintage photos of people playing tennis, postcards from Florida, sports, etc., and nothing spoke to me.
Then I remembered this photo of my Uncle Pete which always makes me think of Clark Kent.
He’s even got the curl on the forehead. Do you think he was taking advantage of the popularity of the Superman stories and television show?
I sure do.
One of the girls in this class photo is Edna Greegus. Which one I don’t think we shall ever know. I count 36 children with about 18 being girls. The photo does not have a date or location. It has a foreign feel to me because of the kerchiefs some of the girls are wearing. It likely isn’t an end of the year shot because the kids are all wearing coats and hats to keep them warm.
From 1959 we have an unidentified nursing school graduation. I learned that the nursing caps that were worn from the mid 19th century until about the 1970s were used to indicate the station, specialty and type of nurse who was wearing them. They were originally designed to differentiate the nurses from other female volunteers at hospitals.
