Lost and forgotten photos from the past

I don’t know which of these ladies was Susie. Coincidentally, she sent this photo to her friend – named Susie! I’d put this snapshot in the 1910s or 20s just based on the availability of amateur cameras. The child could be a boy or girl, it’s impossible to tell. Note that the bathing costume on the left hand lady is somewhat sheer. Seems rather scandalous! But, in many cases, men and women bathed separately so perhaps she was not concerned about a person of the male persuasion seeing her.

“Susie I wouldn’t send this, but it is the best I can do at present. So don’t be to liberal with it as it isn’t so good. I spent quite a few Sundays last summer on the River camping. Hoping next time I can send you something better. Susie”

Looks like women’s insecurities about how they look in a bathing suit go back 100 years.
