Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

Today’s photo image is another photo postcard, showing a young man holding a coat, walking along a paved area. This could be a shore or beach promenade area. You can see a crowd of people milling around, all holding or wearing coats.

The photo was made by Jackson’s Faces LTD in Weston Super Mare, near Bristol in England. It was a popular tourist town for those wishing to enjoy the seaside. The town has a long history that can be found neatly summarized on Wikipedia. Seaside tourism was boosted by the town being close to Bath, Bristol and South Wales, all tourist areas. Additionally, some highlights of the town include it being associated with Marconi’s early radio experiments and WWI and WWII military stations.
