It appears the “napper” may be a target shooter? I don’t believe the weapon is military (more like a shotgun) and doesn’t it look like the bottles are champagne? They sure look as if they are corked….? Fun nevertheless.

When I remember how I feel after ONE GLASS of champagne, I wince…but, as somebody else noticed, the bottles are still corked! Makes you smile, though — great photo!

That must be someone’s idea of a joke. I looks like the man on the ground is surreptitiously watching the photographer.

I think it must have a prank photo. Odd, because when we only had 24 shots a roll, remember how we used to preserve them and only take photos on special occasions? Sometimes we’d have a roll of film in the camera for a year with only birthday pictures and a Christmas group shot on it. Sometimes this thought crosses my mind when I come back from a vacation with 1000 photos. You wonder how many photos our troops take today – they won’t be lacking materials for the Sepia Saturdays to come in the future.

My first thought was that the poor chap was the victim of a prank, but on second glance I think he may be colluding with the photographer!

It reminds me very much of this photo which I featured in a Photo-Sleuth article some time ago. That one was clearly posed, and I suspect yours was too.

The bottles do look to be still corked or capped, but the sentiment is still the same. A fun photo.

If he had just drunk from the uncorked bottles he would have struggled to hold a cigarette. A poser for sure.
