Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

We are going to give Iggy’s brain a rest today with an unidentified photo of a gentleman from the Mearns Family Album. The pose is the side portrait, and unfortunately the lighting from above was a bit too bright. It reminds me of what I learned previously about Ivoryettes, and I wonder if the photographer W. W. Cowles was not very good at this style of photography.

    I appreciate the rest. :-)

    W. W. Cowles (1864-1916) of Seneca Falls, NY must have just had a bad day.

From the 1897 Seneca Falls business directory:

“W. W. COWLES, photographer, 85 Fall street, Seneca Falls, desires his work should be judged on its merits. He believes in perfection in the art, and with such high aim, patrons will be likely to get of him as good pictures as can be made.”
