This fine fellow is one Ervin or Ewin Rankin.

We know this because someone helpfully wrote his name on the back of the CDV. Unfortunately, I’m not having any luck searching for Ervin, Ewin or even Erwin Rankin. 

The photographer Edwards & Son was in operation at various locations from the 1850s to post 1900, so that doesn’t help in narrowing down a search either. This is a CDV, so, more popular from 1870-1890, but that is still a 20 year span. Perhaps someone else searching will figure out who this particular person was.
