Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

Today we start looking at a series of tintypes. I acquired them in an antique photo album. The album itself dates to the 1860s, but a number of the tintypes are obviously from later decades. This is not uncommon, as people collected photo albums over time. It’s also possible that the seller had a bunch of tintypes and just filled the album. None of the tintypes have any sort of identification on them or even photographer information. I like this particular image as the gentleman is nicely dressed and sports a fantastic mustache. Is it called a handlebar mustache – or is there some other name? Flying fork? I’m not a facial hair aficionado, so please, let us know if you have any info!
