An undated cabinet card features two girls – Mabel and Ruby. We know this because they were identified on the back. I’m guessing the older girl is Mabel and the younger Ruby simply by reading left to right. They look like sweet children, though it’s unfortunate that the vignette of the photo faded Mabel out a little on the edges. When you zoom in you can see delicate lace at the edge of Ruby’s sleeve and probably on her collar.
The photo was made by Hugh Brown Jr at 534 Broadway, Council Bluffs, IA. You may remember The Whole Family which featured the Busse family. We discovered in that post that Mabel was born in 1886 and Ruby in 1890. That would put this photo securely in the 1890s as Ruby is an infant.
