Lost and forgotten photos from the past

I love these types of photos. The mount style is called trompe l’oeil and literally means “trick the eye.” The intent is to make it look like the photo was on a rolled up piece of paper and was a popular mount style in the 1880s and 1890s.   1. I always refer to it as a scroll frame cabinet card. I’m happy to learn the actual term for the design!
