Lost and forgotten photos from the past

From the F. Wheaton Smith studio in Boston, we have this interesting image of a lady with an unusual rolled bun. I can only say that I have seen this before in other photographs, but it’s not a style I personally think should be duplicated haha. The frisee curls around the face are quite typical of 1880s-1890s hair fashions.

I found a Boston directory from 1879 listing Frederick Wheaton Smith as a photographer at this address, and a further directory from 1882 for Malden. The two towns are only about 7 miles apart, so it is possible Smith lived in Malden and worked in Boston. I didn’t find much else on him. The photo itself is unidentified.
