I am not certain how this photograph fits into the Dobb Long Book as the photographer – Norman May & Co Ltd was located in Cheltenham, England. This young woman is as lovely as yesterday’s image. She has a look of purity with a touch of humor around her mouth. I could imagine her breaking into a smile very easily. I found one other reference to this photographer that is dated circa 1902 and I’d agree with that time frame for this photo as well.

Who Were They?

Cheltenham, England… Umm… my heads trying to figure out what is going on here..
Just one theory – there seem to be two main Dob/Dobb/Dobbs family roots – one is centered in the Netherlands and bordering Germany and the other in England. If this girl is visiting the ancestors – this could mean a one or more of a few things:
1) I’m looking at the wrong Dobb tree, looking at the ones from the Netherlands.
2) Nina’s folks might of come from England
3) This person is not *that* closely related to Nina.
In any event, I’m sure she is smirking at my feeble attempts to determine who she was…

This one is so beautiful because she looks so natural. And yet the crossed arms give a standoffish look. She’s open to suggestions, but will make up her own mind.

Just to throw this out there… what if she isn’t related at all but maybe a god-daughter or the daughter of an extremely close friend. I know I put my friends and close family member in my albums. The fact that this one is from England would make it that much more special.

She is a looker..and I see she has an “attitude” too..good for her..women needed to be really strong back then. I agree with Kat, not all people in an album are related..there are close friends and neighbors too:)
