Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

Here today we have a drooping handlebar mustache on an otherwise handsome fellow. I know many men took great care with their mustache and facial hair. It was considered a mark of maturity. But, I’m often reminded of the crass but hilarious movie A Million Ways To Die In The West, which included a running gag that mustaches were expensive due to the various pomades and waxes used to groom them. There’s even a ridiculous barn dance sing along called the Mustache Song, in the vein of an old timey musical.

The drooping mustache above was photographed by Andrews at No 1 South Hanover St, Carlisle, PA.
