Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

This is a scan of a slide made on Kodak film in the 1960s. This is my dad! I can’t say that he enjoyed horseback riding because in my entire life I never heard him once mention it. This photo was taken at the old family farm, the one I mentioned recently where he learned to drive the tractor when he was 8 years old. :-) One thing I love about these old slides is the deep and rich colors.

Wow- that color slide really reproduced well! The colors usually fade after a bit – Your dad doesn’t look all that comfy on the horse – but he has a nice smile.

I bet if Dad were younger he would be more comfortable on the horse. The stirrups look a little short though. He’s not really dressed for riding either with dress shoes and shirt. The slide is beautiful.

Showed Dad this pic tonight. He said he was in his 20s at the time. The horse has an English saddle on it. The reason the stirrups are so short is because they are set for someone like Rosemary or Eunice. Mom was probably there too but would not get on the horse. No way. No how. This is the Marvel Farm.
