Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

Two cute kids sit in a chair in this real photo postcard fromthe early 20th century. Real photo postcards were a popular output as they allowed the subject (or in this case, the parents) to mail their photo to friends and family without having to find an envelope that would fit it, pay extra postage, or any other concerns. The note or letter they wrote would never be separated from the photo presumably, and for us, they often carry the names of the sender and recipient which can be fun to research. In this example, someone wrote on the back – Dick, Rhea Maria Farrell. Perhaps this was Dick and Rhea Farrell.

This particular brand of postcard is an AZO with the corner arrows pointing up. That puts the dating to 1904-1918.
