Who Were They?

Lost and forgotten photos from the past

Don’t you think this fellow looks like Prince Charles? Just for the sake of comparison…

It’s a doppleganger 100 years separated!

The image by T. Ludwick Darnell is from the early 1870s and the one of Prince Charles is from the early 1970s.

I have submitted this as a Sepia Saturday post so our friends across the pond can have a giggle. Click on over to Sepia Saturday to see what other kinds of merriment can be had. Come on now, tempis fugit!

Oh the times, they are a-changing

Yes, I see what you mean! I think he also looks somewhat like a young Roman Polanski.

There was a bit of a media stir not too long ago when an antique photo was found that bore a striking resemblance to Nicholas Cage, and the rumor started that Cage is a vampire. (I assume the rumor was mostly joking, but you never know. People can be so weird.) Did you read about that? Google “Nicholas Cage vampire” to see items about it, including the original photo. Such reactions are pretty funny, but it’s still a little disconcerting to find such doppelgangers. :-)

Ha, ha, how funny. Yesterday I was looking at Charles’ great grandmother Queen Mary of Teck (5-26-1867 to 3-24-1953) because of “Lady Trump”. She was known for wearing lots of long strands of necklaces. I had heard that she was obsessed with acquiring jewels in the early 20th century but can’t find the reference. All of Lady Trump’s necklaces reminded me of the Queen.

My first thought was that the old photo reminded me of the Mad Magazine character, Alfred E. Neuman.

  6. Anyone believe in reincarnation? A striking resemblance! But it is said that everyone has a doppelganger. I see them every day. But finding the “original” is rather time consuming :)
